OUR PRESIDENT:
Dr.Shadee Toomari, PSY.D is the president and cofounder of The Radiance of Hope Counseling Center. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with a B.A. in psychology from Tehran University, and an M.A. in marriage and family therapy. She obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Ryokan College in Los Angeles. Mrs. Toomari’s training includes seven years of psychoanalytic psychotherapy under a Jungian analyst. Her experience also involves extensive experience with Eriksonian hypnosis and the use of art therapy with children.
Dr. Toomari is a member of the Iranian Psychological Association of America (IPAA) and a member of the Iranian American psychological Association (IAPA). Dr. Toomari is also known for her charitable work in the Persian community. She is the founder of the Family Aid Program, which, for many years, provided assistance and referrals for families in crisis situations, domestic conflict, illness, and housing emergencies.
Dr. Toomari was a case manager of the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education in Tehran, Iran. She supervised a research project to assess the adequacy and relevance of university education around the country. The result of this research has been published in a book titled “Assessment of Quality of University Education” for which Dr. Toomari is a coauthor. Dr. Toomari was also a part of the research to standardize the “Stanford” achievement tests for use in Iran, which was conducted on the 7 to 18 year-old students in Tehran’s schools citywide. Dr. Toomari currently has a private practice in Beverly Hills.
OUR CLINICAL SUPERVISOR:
Diane Alvy is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist-Board Certified. She is also the cofounder of The Radiance of Hope Counseling Center. Ms. Alvy’s background includes working as a Registered Nurse as well as a counselor. She brings years of experience both teaching and supervising interns. Although she was not born in Iran, as a child, her parents took in Iranian Immigrants, as she was able to learn and appreciate the Persian culture. Diane has authored numerous articles that have dealt with using art therapeutically, and bettering work conditions for women in the healthcare industry.

Elahe Berokhim: Community Advocate, Volunteer consultant:
A social worker by trade, she has initiated and organized health, social, cultural education and advocacy programs in Los Angeles county since 1992. She has established relationships with number of resources in the community to assist in crisis management, domestic, child and elder abuse, drug use and abuse and cancer survivorship support programs. She is currently serving as the Vice President of Executive Board and a member of the Board Directors at Iranian American Jewish Federation.
